With two productions that balance humour, confession and the search for identity, Penelope Haraki returns to Cyprus after completing her studies in the United Kingdom.
Confessions: I Was Once A Child will be staged on Saturday, August 1, at Synergeio Performing Arts Center, while Escaping Paradise will take to the stage at the same venue on Sunday, August 2. Through two distinct yet deeply personal theatrical approaches, the productions explore themes of coming of age, freedom, vulnerability, and human connection. Ahead of their Cyprus premiere, we spoke with Penelope Haraki about the inspiration behind the works, her experience studying abroad, and the importance of creating new Cypriot theatre.
