The Trump administration ordered federal agencies and contractors that work with the military to cease business with Anthropic after the company refused to allow the Pentagon to use its artificial-intelligence technology without restrictions.
Government agencies, including the Pentagon, have six months to phase out use of Anthropic’s products, President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Friday afternoon. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth later said on X that Anthropic will be deemed a “supply chain risk,” a type of designation usually reserved for companies thought to be extensions of foreign adversaries.
