It is noted that the earthquake had its epicentre in the maritime area of Cyprus, 18 kilometres south-west of Paphos and a focal depth of 13 kilometres
The earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, which occurred half an hour after midnight south-west of Paphos, was strongly felt in Paphos and Limassol districts, while it was also felt in the rest of Cyprus and across the eastern Mediterranean, Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
