The European Commission has welcomed the meeting between President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar on opening new checkpoints, during the daily midday briefing in Brussels.
Maciej Berestecki, spokesperson for cohesion and reforms, said responding to a question that opening checkpoints helps in building trust, and reiterated that the EU remains ready to play an active role in supporting all stages of the process with all appropriate means at its disposal.
