Tropical Storm Gabrielle formed Wednesday morning in the central Atlantic Ocean, putting an end to an unusual nearly three-week stretch with no storms during the peak of hurricane season.
As of Wednesday evening, Gabrielle was churning nearly 900 miles from the Caribbean’s northern Leeward Islands. It has sustained winds of 50 mph.
